A pair of letting agents have been expelled from the industry by the Property Ombudsman (TPO).
Isleworth company Madisons had mishandled the deposits from tenants, while it was also guilty of failing to pass on rents to landlords.
Torbay Residential Lettings of Torquay broke a number of TPO regulations, including the one stating that all letting agents need to comply with investigations being made by the organisation.
Gerry Fitzjohn, vice-chairman of the company operating TPO, stated that neither of the letting agents were fit for their purpose, which is why they have been expelled from the sector.
He explained that it is the duty of TPO to inform the public when letting agents are not meeting the required standards.
Last month, TPO announced that it had approached the Office of Fair Trading with regard to the expulsion of a pair of estate agents.
Bill McClintock, chairman of the TPO operating company, explained that wli.uk.com from the West Midlands is one of the companies.
